I just replaced the vanity top in my bathroom and now the faucet hose on one side is too short to connect to the water supply. Also keep in mind that the way faucets are made today its relatively uncommon to end up with faucet lines that are significantly too short.

It will have 38 male threads on one end the same as the stop valve which will connect to the factory hose and 38 female threads on the other to connect to the stop valve. The fitting HJ mentioned is just a chunk of brass with a male 38 fitting at each end. Regardless of what your supply line is made of it probably uses a coupling nut to secure it to the faucet tailpiece.
